Thapelo Maimela (born January 28, 1997), also known as IMP Tha Don, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer born in Mafikeng, North West but was raised in Pretoria, Gauteng.

Career

IMP Tha Don began rising to fame after being featured on A-Reece’s soul and jazz influenced song, “A Real Nigga Tale”.

In 2018, IMP Tha Don released a single titled, “Fuck The System” which earned him extreme street credibility from the hip hop community.

He then proceeded to do production work on A-Reece’s “And I’m Only 21” EP and MashBeatz’s first Album “Thanks For Nothing”, and had guest features on both projects respectfully. This resulted in him earning a buzz in the streets and him proving that, he too can stand among the greats of hip hop.

The Mafikeng born rapper was then featured on MashBeatz’s sophomore project, “Fire In The Water”, in addition to having multiple production credits on the project as well.

In 2021, IMP Tha Don then focused on his mixtape, “Money.Power.Respect” which featured a good score of formidable rappers. The mixtape was released towards the end of the year on Sunday 28 November 2021, it received critical acclaim from the hip hop community.

Maimela is not married and has no children of his own yet.
