Bravo Le Roux is dead, family confirms his passing

South African hip-hop artist, Bravo Le Roux, has passed away. His family has released a statement confirming his death.

The South African hip-hop community is saddened by the tragic loss of award-winning artist Bravo Le Roux.

Bravo Le Roux, whose real name is Sinesipho Peter, passed away on Friday 23 January 2026. Taking to social media and Instagram in particular, the rapper’s family released a public statement confirming his demise.

In the statement, Sinesipho’s family remembered him as a deeply cherished artist whose talent, voice, and spirit reached far beyond borders. “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of Bravo Le Roux (Sinesipho Peter), a beloved South African artist whose talent, voice, and spirit touched countless lives across the world,” the statement read.

Away from the limelight, Bravo Le Roux was celebrated as a devoted father, a loving son, a brother, a cousin, and a dear friend – a loyal man whose presence and love stretched far beyond music, touching the lives of those closest to him in profound ways.

The family described him as a gifted, creative, proud representative of his community and a source of inspiration for upcoming artists. His work was marked by honesty, passion, and fearlessness, qualities that cemented his place in the hearts of fans and peers alike.

Bravo Le Roux is rumoured to have died by hanging in Switzerland and was found by Swiss authorities in his apartment.

Born in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, Bravo Le Roux was raised in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, in the Western Cape Province. He worked hard and consistently to carve out a distinctive lane in South African hip-hop by fusing Xhosa rap with Afrikaans and English slang. His sound reflected township life with style and sincerity, earning him widespread recognition.

Collaborations with artists such as Youngsta CPT, Sjava, Maglera DoeBoy, Yanga Chief, Touchline, Boohle, and the late Costa Titch helped elevate his profile.

Bravo Le Roux’s debut album, Igazi, iinyembezi no mbilo, was well received and made an immediate impact, topping charts and surpassing one million streams within just two weeks.

Bravo’s career was decorated with multiple RUMA Awards wins and nominations at the 2020 South African Hip Hop Awards. He appeared on platforms like Yo MTV Raps, Massive Music, and Afternoon Express, and graced major stages at events including Cotton Fest, Back To The City Festival, and Capsule Fest. Brand partnerships with Nedbank, MTN, Netflix, and Johnnie Walker reflected his growing influence, alongside recognition on lists such as the Johnnie Walker x TRACE Top 30 Africa and MTV Base Hottest MC.

The family expressed heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support and condolences received from around the world. They asked for privacy as they mourn and encouraged the public to honour Bravo by remembering his artistry, his contribution to culture, and the joy he brought to so many lives.
